‘Shadowhunters’ Star Dominic Sherwood, EP Matt Hastings & Showrunner Darren Swimmer Discuss Details About Season 2

With the new team of brains behind the scenes, how will the upcoming season 2 of "Shadowhunters" be different from the original? Showrunner Darren Swimmer, executive producer Matt Hastings and star Dominic Sherwood (playing the role of Jace) have discussed several changes that fans will witness when the series returns for season 2.

EP Matt Hastings revealed that fans will see some improved vampire moves on Simon, particularly on how he moves around. Fans can imagine being in the passenger's seat and watch how Simon maneuvers the wheel as he continues to unleash his powers.

"Malec" fans can also expect an upgrade in the relationship of Alec and Magnus. The previous finale episode featured how the locking of lips of the two has stopped Alec's wedding. The upcoming season 2 will highlight how Alec and Magnus will level up their relationship. Showrunner Darren Swimmer detailed that season 2 will emphasize that the two knew they belong together but they just do not know where to proceed with their relationship.

Another significant change fans will see in season 2 of "Shadowhunters" is the revamped portal system. Swimmer teased that the new portal system appears to be more liquid, where fans can see something like a whirlpool that the characters will jump through. Swimmer explained they have created a new look that fans will notice in comparison to the previous season's look.

In the said interview with TVLine, "Shadowhunters" star Dominic Sherwood also emphasized that the violent trailers that have been released were all accurate. Fans can see more violence, especially with Jace.

The actor also discussed Jace's questionable partnership with Valentine. Sherwood teased that Jace will do everything to accomplish the things he needs to do, no matter what the cost. This also hints that fans will see more of Jace's darker side. Consequently, Sherwood also pointed out that the team will do everything to get him back.

With regard to Jace's feelings for Clary, Sherwood admitted that they have already finished filming episode 10 and this arc has not been touched yet. Fans will have to look forward to the fate of this love team, if Jace and Clary are real siblings and if the romantic feelings should not prevail any more.

Finally, the showrunner also confirmed the coming in of a new character, Sebastian. Swimmer described Sebastian as a "charming character with a dark side." However, the showrunner also said he will not disclose any other details yet to keep the suspense going.

Meanwhile, in another interview, Sherwood told Entertainment Weekly that the first two episodes of season 2 will highlight the intentions of Valentine from Jace and vice versa. Fans will also see Jace getting tortured in the process, as the actor revealed Valentine will try to break Jace at the start of season 2.
