It is just the beginning of the New Year and it seems there might be massive changes coming to "Grand Theft Auto V." The Russian developers behind the modding tool OpenIV recently announced that they will be recreating and bringing the entirety of Liberty City to "GTA V." This is something players would want to look forward to.
According to the Russian developers, "The Liberty City will not replace Los Santos or Blaine County, but appears across the sea. Using the power of OpenIV and openFormats, we (were) able to bring Liberty City right into GTA V map."
This means that Liberty City exists alongside Los Santos and Blain County in "Grand Theft Auto V." The team also released a teaser trailer, which you can watch below, that showcases the city where it all started.
Since Liberty City has been quite known as one the most densely packed and largest maps in "GTA," similar to the one in "GTA IV," adding it to another game will be no simple feat. So the OpenIV team recreated the entire Liberty City utilizing the files used in "GTA IV."
The mod will work like an automatic converter that will convert Liberty City from the player's copy of "GTA IV" into the copy of "GTA V." Doing so allows the size to dramatically be reduced, freeing more hard drive space, as reported by ComicBook. The mod along with some extra assets will create a single-player DLC pack that will automatically install itself in "GTA V."
However, there is a minor catch if players would want to play Liberty City in "GTA V." First, players are required to have both copies of "Grand Theft Auto IV" and "Grand Theft Auto V," as explained earlier. Second is that players will be unable to play Liberty City online. No multiplayer mode if you want to hit the streets.
If you can recall, Rockstar Games strictly does not allow mods for "GTA Online." If any player tries to do so, then there is a "high probability" that the player will be banned from the game.
But stay tuned for more information as to the release date and other details for the mod as the OpenIV team has not officially released any further details. But they plan to finish it "as soon as possible."
