January Jones' Single Parenting Stance Gets Criticisms For Being Selfish & Anti-Male

January Jones doesn't believe her 5-year-old son needs a father nor a stepfather. She prefers single parenting to having a partner who might mess up stuff that "dads accidentally do."

The bold declaration was revealed in an interview with Red magazine via People. Yet her statement have been taken as an anti-male stance. Is she dissing the men? Is she being selfish about being a single parent?

January Jones had broken up with Xander's father when she had him in 2011. The actress has never divulged the identity of her son's dad. She gave birth with her mom, sister and a doula in the room, while her own father and brother-in-law waited in the next room.

"I only wanted women with me. Female energy," she said in the interview. "I just don't feel I need a partner," she added, saying that her son has all the father figure he needs from her dad and other dads among her friends and neighbors.

January Jones believe that if she does have a male partner to raise her son, it would have to be "someone who would contribute to my happiness and not take away from it." As it is, she values the fact that Xander has strong women in his life to teach him to respect women.

Jones' statement has been criticized by the online public. They are calling her choice as selfish and a big mistake.

"If she is purposely excluding the father in favor of doing things 'her way,' then I don't think that's fair at all," one commenter said on the People Facebook page. "What a shame her son will never have a great dad to do guy things with living in the same household...bummer," a male commenter also shared in the discussion.

But others have been more supportive of January Jones, especially single moms who know what it's like to be the only person for the kids. According to Single Mother Guide, of the 12 million single-parent families in the U.S., 84 percent are single moms and one in four kids in single-parent households have not been raised by dads in whatever kind of arrangement.

January Jones' situation is not an exception. It is common for most single parents. What do you think of her statements? Share your thoughts in the comments!
