The year 2017 is here and we finally get lay our hands on the fourth installment to the sci-fi RPG that has nearly been 5 years in the making. BioWare confirmed that "Mass Effect: Andromeda" will hit shelves after teasing players with only bits and pieces of the game.
"Mass Effect: Andromeda" is the fourth among BioWare's sci-fi series. With the game's marketing plan kicking into full mode the last few months in 2016, it finally has a confirmed release date. GameSpot reported that BioWare's boss Aaryn Flynn made the announcement through a blog post.
BioWare's "Mass Effect: Andromeda" will be available on March 21 for North America while UK stores will have the much-anticipated sci-fi RPG on March 23. At least the game now has a confirmed launch date following a leak last October 2016.
Back in October, Destructoid spotted the "reported" listing of the Dark Horse Comics of the book "The Art of Mass Effect: Andromeda" on Amazon. The book was slated for a March 21, 2017, release but the description exposed more information than the publisher intended.
It reads: "Dark Horse will release 'The Art of Mass Effect: Andromeda' simultaneously with the game!" The description pointed out almost the same launch window of the game, which by now has been confirmed by EA and BioWare.
Further, during the opening keynote of CES 2017, a 2-minute gameplay footage that was never seen before of "Mass Effect: Andromeda" was showcased. The footage detailed how players will be able to customize the game's combat and battle skills of Ryder, the game's main character. The footage also showcased significant cinematic footage of the sci-fi RPG from BioWare and EA and its brand new ship, the Tempest.
The blog post from BioWare's boss noted that the new game made use of EA's Frostbite engine. So, fans will have to expect that this game will have "tremendous graphical jump," compared with its predecessor "Mass Effect 3."
Players are indeed looking forward to the game's new characters, stories, planets, gameplay systems, and more. It will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
