The late night show of Conan O'Brien will remain on air on TBS amid reports that it will be cancelled. Reports about it being a weekly show instead of nightly has been sparked but TBS president Kevin Reilly assured that his show will remain on the nightly line-up but was not sure about the future of the show.
Entertainment Weekly reported that Reilly said they are not switching to a weekly format for O'Brien's show called "Conan" anytime soon. The reports about "Conan" being a weekly show came after Turner CEO John Martin said in a statement that the show will be airing only once a week as opposed to four times in comparison with "Full Frontal with Samantha Bee." Reilly then said in a statement that the show of O'Brien remains to be an invaluable franchise and he has been a partner and a producer for their TBS brand. Reilly also said that they plan to further broaden and evolve their relationship with the talk show host in the future.
O'Brien moved from NBC to NBC in 2010 and his show has been airing four times a week but this time, he has been taking his show on the road in different parts of the world. Last year, he has been to Cuba, Germany, New York, and South Korea.
Reilly was also recently interviewed by The Hollywood Reporter and he shared with the publication that "Conan" being on the road has helped gain ratings. It averages more than 500,000 total viewers among the 18-49 group.
More on O'Brien being of great help for TBS, he is the face of the network since he represents them on Comic-Con. Reilly said that O'Brien is starting to evolve his brand in the digital age. TBS has a deal with O'Brien through 2018 and Reilly said that they are going to do business with him for a long time.
They will also be producing this new series called "Clueless Gamer." This is based on one of the viral videos of O'Brien wherein he made fun of a video game. In "Clueless Gamer," celebrities will be invited to play a game and make comments about it. Due to the upcoming projects, the airing of "Conan" might be affected eventually.
Going weekly for "Conan" is a possibility . O'Brien is yet to comment.
