The animated movie "Nerdland" is interesting as it discusses how people turn to social media to have their claim to fame. Not only do the characters turn to social media, they aren't deterred by anything just to be famous.
Nowadays, becoming famous has been an obsession by many. It provides the easiest possibilities to basically have anything conceivable, material or otherwise. It makes for a good life, living life like the rich and famous. For some, this is the end-all-and-be-all of their existence.
Other people may even consider using other people to their advantage in order for them to be famous. Harsh as it may seem, but this may even be the least of concerns for people to be famous and live a great life. This is the harsh reality of life that the movie Nerdland tries to impart.
According to Rotten Tomatoes, the story of "Nerdland" revolves around two bestfriends whose dreams to stardom never fizzled. Both are then celebrating their 30th birthday so the pressure to be famous is so much on as they feel they are running out of time.
The movie continues by both John and Elliott troll Los Angeles fame-grab journey, encountering and abusing friends both and new along the process. They are definitely determined to have their fame no matter what it takes.
It maybe because of the movie's plot that "Nerdland" didn't sit well with various movie critics as it premiered for one night only. It only registered 33 percent on the site's ranking. To make things worse, only 20 percent said they liked the movie.
The movie did have mixed reviews. Nick Schager of Variety and a top critic said that the movie revels in the foulness of the 21st century pop culture, albeit to a degree that's ultimately both exhausting and redundant.
On the other hand, Brian Orndorf of Blu-ray.com said that it tests the skill and the implementation of bad ideas are amusing, offering satisfying timing and unpredictable results, getting the movie up to speed with broad sense of humor.
As added by Movie Insider, the voices of Hollywood greats were lent to the film. It features the voices of Patton Oswalt, Paul Rudd, Kate Micucci, John Ennis, Brendon Small, and many more.
