The movie "Anonymous" or "Hacker" which premiered on December did not do well with critics at all. The movie belongs to a few which did not meet the strict requirements of moviegoers and movie critics alike for the said month. It settled in the lower bracket in terms of ranking.
The movie "Anonymous" is basically about how one teenager resorts to hacking and other fraud related activities online to steal information and identity. Identity theft is of the biggest crimes being committed on a daily basis worldwide. What's alarming is that the culprits are getting savvier making them challenging to apprehend.
The main character and hacker Alex works closely with his friend Sye. Sye is responsible for introducing Alex to the black market trading. The tandem also is assisted by a female hacker Kira.
Alex resorted to this illegal activity as he is stricken with deep financial need. Without any other options available, he and his team are unstoppable in doing illegal business. The movie then continued on showing the twists and turns the three had to go through according to IMDb.
As added by Rotten Tomatoes, the movie "Anonymous" had a dismal and disappointing zero as its rating. It also seemed that not many are even interested to leave their feedback on the movie because only six shared their thoughts. Out of 134 users, 54 percent of it said they liked the movie. At least, basing on this, more than half expressed their liking.
Matthew Lickona of San Diego Reader and top critic said that everything feels like a requisite, from the mother weeping over her lost job and unpaid bills to the tiny slip that proves deadly. But requisite is a long way from real.
Jessica Kiang of Variety and top critic said the the movie is uninspired thriller offering even the minimally computer literate viewer few insights into the world of hacktivism. Kimber Myers of Los Angeles Times and top critic also said that the movie "Anonymous" likely intends to be thought provoking but only invited questions about the illogical choices of characters and filmmakers.
