For First Time In Steam's History, It Reaches More Than 14 Million Concurrent Users

It is reported that there are more than 14,207,039 concurrent Valve's Steam users on January 7 according to Steam's stats page although it is currently back mid-to-high 13 million. This is the first time Steam experienced this high number of concurrent players.

The indication of a number of users means that more people are playing PC as a gaming platform and they are running the Steam service of Valve concurrently. It is a new record for steam, but it is not surprising that "Dota 2" obtained the highest number of players.

"Dota 2" obtained 951,942 concurrent players and it is at the peak during that time. It is followed by "Counter-Strike: Global Offensive" which has 675,195 players. Meanwhile, the third place goes to "Grand Theft Auto V" obtaining 116,230 players.

It is an impressive improvement for Steam since it increases every year. It is worth noting that in 2012, it hits 5 million Steam users at the same time. In 2014, it hits 8 million while in 2015, it hits 12 million. Now, it increased more than 2 million for more than a year. The number shows users who are running Steam although they do not necessarily play a game. The data is an indication that Steam installation is growing according to Shack News.

After Steam reached the highest number of concurrent players, it dropped back to 13 million. But, according to PC Gamer, this may be met again when the Summer Sale for Steam will roll around. It is said that it is not a coincidence that this data is experienced in January since it is really a time when the company hits user milestones.

The increase of concurrent users of Steam is an impressive growth as it is obtained for only a short period of time. It cannot be denied however that the revenue received from the sale of its games is evening out. Steam has released more games in 2016, but there are still no reports about its revenue.
