‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ First Trailer Teases Intense Drama Of Survival; ‘Gilmore Girls’ Star Alexis Bledel Joins As The Handmaid’s Partner

Hulu has just released a trailer for "The Handmaid's Tale," giving the fans a first look on the dark side of the dystopian drama. The new series promises to feature intense drama, agony and survival. Spoilers further confirm that "Gilmore Girls" star Alexis Bledel has joined in as Ofglen, the partner of the lead handmaid, Offred (played by Elisabeth Moss)

"Gilmore Girls" star Alexis Bledel has reportedly landed a major role in the upcoming Hulu's adaptation of Margaret Atwood's book, "The Handmaid's Tale." Popularly known as Rory Gilmore, Bledel will now portray the role of Ofglen, the handmaid partner of Offred in doing errands for the town.

Bledel's character will first be seen as a righteous character, obedient to rules and loyal to the Gilead system. Eventually, fans will see how Ofglen will turn out to be the subversive and bold handmaid, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Meanwhile, Hulu has come out with a teaser to give the fans a first glimpse of the upcoming TV series. The clip features Offred narrating her life struggles as a handmaid. The preview is titled "So Many Things Are Forbidden Now" and Offred can be heard emphasizing this.

The clip details the oppression that the handmaids go through in the Gilead system. The preview includes scenes which teased intense drama in the lives of the handmaids. Fans can spot a scene where a group of girls were holding up some signage, suggesting a protest. Another scene where a handmaid seems to be running away, trying to escape something or someone was also flashed.

Throughout the clip, viewers can feel the pain and agony that the handmaids are going through. It seems that the upcoming "The Handmaid's Tale" will touch the hearts of the viewers when it premieres in April.

The teaser also highlighted Offred's statement saying she had another name which is already forbidden. Towards the end of the clip, the character then introduced her name as Offred and she also ended by fiercely stating that she plans to survive.
