Mom Offered Body as Surrogate to Carry Grandchild After Daughter's Many Failed Pregnancies

Good Morning America reported that Breanna Lockwood is unable to have a successful pregnancy. Lockwood's mom, Julie Loving, wants her daughter to have a child, so she offered her body as a surrogate mom for her grandchild.

The 29-year-old soon-to-be daughter said that her mom is the closest place to home for her child. She explained that Loving wants to be a grandma as much as she wants to be a mom. Loving is doing everything she can to have one.

Shortly after tying the knot to her husband Aaron in 2016, Lockwood started her fertility journey. During that time, her grandfather was terminal ill. She wanted to give him a great-grandchild, so the couple tried to get pregnant immediately.

They were unsuccessful after trying a natural way, so they started going to Fertility Centers of Illinois to see specialist Brian Kaplan. Lockwood underwent numerous rounds of in vitro fertilization, surgeries, and miscarriages.

Kaplan finally confirmed that her uterus is unable to carry a child successfully. Lockwood said that it was the hardest thing she had to go through because she could not see what she pictured anymore.

The specialist had other ideas

Kaplan suggested to Lockwood to consider surrogacy. He said that if a family member or a friend wants to be her baby's surrogate mom, she could save money. Doing so would save her more than $100,000 for a dental hygienist.

Loving also had the same idea. She invited the idea after her daughter got a miscarriage with twins. When she shared her idea with her daughter, Lockwood did not take it seriously at first. After running 19 marathons and doing many triathlons, Loving felt that she could do it healthwise. Apart from that, she had easy pregnancies with her two kids.

When they decided to make Loving the surrogate, they went to see five specialists. They also did a series of tests, which, according to Kaplan, Loving passed them all with "flying colors."

Embryo transfer to the surrogate mom

Kaplan performed the embryo transfer in February. A week before the country's shut down, he confirmed that Loving was pregnant and a surrogate mom to her grandchild. Halfway through the pregnancy, they were getting excited and started shopping and planning.

The mother and daughter see each other daily and go to doctor's appointments together.

On Tuesday, Lockwood revealed on her Instagram that they are having a baby girl. She posted a photo of her and her husband. Then, she added a caption that says her baby girl is so loved.

Lockwood said that she and Aaron could not wait to tell their daughter that they did everything to have her. Loving also shared how much she looks forward to talking to her grandchild. She wants to let the little one know that she carried her for nine months.

Adding to that, she said they would be open with the little girl at a very young age. They plan to tell her truth once she has an understanding of the things around her.
