Thinking of ways on how to celebrate Halloween can be difficult nowadays due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The constant threat of the virus can make observing Halloween a challenge, especially since kids are used to trick-or-treating in the neighborhood or attending Halloween parties.
However, safety is still every parents' priority. That is why they keep on thinking of ways on how to celebrate Halloween despite the coronavirus pandemic.
According to the associate professor of Ball State University, Jill Walls there can be plenty of ways on how to celebrate Halloween without compromising a child's health. Walls is focused on Early Childhood, Youth, and Family Studies at the university.
The professor also said, "Parents should take time to prepare their children for some new traditions and provide reassurance about the other upcoming holidays, including Thanksgiving and Christmas."
Here are some ways on how to celebrate Halloween that Walls suggested:
Watching a movie
Some movies have themes that are focused on Halloween. Spend some time watching these films with your kids.
Because these movies can be scary, parents should ensure that what they are watching is age-appropriate. You would not want your kids to be watching something that would give them trauma or fear rather than enjoy it.
Make Halloween craft
While you and your kids are on it, you might want to decorate the house with these Halloween crafts. In a few months, it is going to be Christmas, so before filling your homes with Christmas-themed decorations, spend this holiday with some Halloween crafts first.

Bake or prepare holiday-themed food
Some foods can be easy to prepare with kids. Find snacks or goodies that are Halloween-themed and prepare them with your kids. This way, you are not only creating a new tradition with them, you are also slowly teaching them responsibility at home.
After preparing the food, ask other family members to join you in eating, or better yet, bring them to the movie night! That could be another new way on how to celebrate Halloween during this time.
Attend online Halloween costume parties
Another way on how to celebrate Halloween is by attending costume parties with your kids' friends.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, schools and other social gatherings have shifted to online platforms. The same could be applied to Halloween costume parties.
Walls reminds parents if their community is conducting Halloween activities, safety precautions should be in place. She encourages parents to use or give away wrapped candies. She emphasized, "Costumes with masks and gloves might be the best way to go this year!"
