The upcoming “Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice" drops another bomb to fans, and, this time, it's about the big baddie Lex Luthor. According to MTV News, when Jesse Eisenberg was chosen for the role of Lex Luthor, many were unsure if he will fit the role because in the comic book and previous installments, Lex Luthor was presented as older man with less hair. However, Eisenberg's version of Lex was a long-haired tech tycoon.
In a Twitter post of Lex Luthor, it was revealed that the name of Eisenberg's character is Alexander Luthor Jr., which means that "The Social Network" actor is not playing as the old Lex Luthor, but as his son. According to MTV News, with this recent development in the "Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice," everything "makes sense."
Outer Places notes that in the comics version, Lex Luthor, Jr. is the son of Lex Luthor and Lois Lane from another universe. The report also says that Luthor Jr. is a totally different guy from his father. According to a fictional article of Luthor Jr. on Fortune Magazine, via MTV News, he was described as " “a 31-year-old wunderkind who transformed an aging petrochemical and heavy machinery dinosaur into a tech darling of the Fortune 500 in what some call a superhuman feat.”
The fictional write-up further notes that the young tech mogul, who owns LexCorp, has been doing a lot of military contracts and is developing a new product that will change the world. “It’s about safety. This is a product that will protect you, and everyone, from threats you don’t even know about yet. I don’t want to scare anybody… much. But there are a lot of threats out there, and they’re here today," Luthor Jr. explained.
But how will this new baddie differ from his father? In an interview with Comic Book, Eisenberg divulged that his character is someone to be feared.
"There is this trove of stuff about this guy. A lot of it's repetitive, like he always winds up on the roof of his building giving some faux benevolent talk about how he's going to change the city. It's fun to take that campy cartoony stuff and try to put it into a real person and try to reconcile the two ... this movie character feels like a real scary person," he said.
“Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice" stars Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, Diane Lane, Jesse Eisenberg, Jeremy Irons and Holly Hunter. It'll open on March 25, 2016.
