A New Jersey student committed suicide after a video of four girls bullying and beating her in school surfaced online.
The New Jersey student, Adriana Kuch, 14, had opened up to her family about the bullying she had been receiving at Central Regional High School in Berkeley Township for months.
However, the scars, bruises, and wounds took a toll on the young girl, who ended her life at their home on February 3, just two days after the video was uploaded.
New Jersey student commits suicide
According to Fox News, on February 1, a shocking video surfaced showing a brutal attack at a local public high school.
The video depicts Adriana and her boyfriend walking down the hallway when a student approached them and started hitting Adriana in the face with a full water bottle three times.
The force of the blows caused Adriana to fall to the ground, where she was then kicked and punched by a group of students while some of them cheered and laughed.
The attack lasted for about 30 seconds before two school workers intervened and stopped it. As a result of the attack, Adriana suffered severe bruises on her legs and face.
The news of the incident shocked Adriana's father, Michael Kuch, who immediately took his daughter to the local police station to file a report.
Michael also revealed that after the attack, Adriana showed him videos of classmates taunting and threatening her on social media platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and Snapchat.
This was after months of bullying by her peers at the local high school. Furthermore, as reported by 7News, students began protesting outside the school premises after they knew the longstanding bullying problem caused Adria Kuch's death.
Fellow students walked out of their classrooms at the high school and demonstrated outside the school premises, asking the institution to take action against bullying actively.
The attack on Adriana is a concerning reminder of the prevalence of bullying in schools and its serious impact on students.
Beaten by four other girls in school
After reporting the incident to the police, Adriana's father, Michael, informed the school's faculty. However, he stated that the school took no action in response.
According to NBC, Michael announced that he was pursuing legal action against the school and wanted justice to be served. He believed that if the school and police had taken immediate action, his daughter would still be alive.
The father expressed his anger and frustration about the situation, blaming the school, the students who bullied Adriana, and the police for not taking appropriate action.
He added that he was disturbed by the fact that some students who witnessed the attack considered it entertainment and took videos of it.
He emphasized that what hurt Adriana the most was the constant embarrassment and humiliation she faced, not the physical injuries from the water bottle.
However, Michael stated that Adriana was not the only Central Regional High School student who has faced physical abuse and cyberbullying on school grounds.
On his Facebook page, Michael shared videos from other parents whose children have also faced bullying without the school administration intervening.
In response to the incident, three students involved in the attack were charged with third-degree felony assault, and a fourth student was charged with disorderly conduct. Since then, the local high school expelled the four students responsible for the attack.
