'Super Smash Bros 4' DLC Characters & Update: Major Nintendo Announcement Today -- Here's What To Expect [Rumor Round Up]

Nintendo's phenomenal brawler “Super Smash Bros” has its fans waiting with great expectation for the upcoming DLC. To date, some new updates revolving around the game has been revealed.

Earlier reports have revealed that “Final Fantasy VII” main protagonist Cloud Strife is storming into the fray.

The former SOLDIER's inclusion into the brawler battle has surprised many unsuspecting fans. Apparently, that is because it hasn't been found in any Nintendo game, although some “Final Fantasy” elements have been ported into different Nintendo systems.

Fans will remember Cloud as the Buster sword wielder who ultimately uses the Ultima weapon in “Final Fantasy VII.” He is a childhood friend to Tifa Lockhart and mortal enemy to the one-winged angel Sephiroth. These characters can be seen in various games and spin-offs such as “Ehrgeiz: God Bless the Ring,” “Dissidia” and many others.

Nintendo's announcement of the spiked-hair persona didn't come without any fanfare. In the reveal trailer, Cloud is shown to have two different costumes: one simple design from “FFVII” and another more intricate design from “Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children.”

He was also shown to have multiple abilities, including the famous “omnislash” limit break and an Odin summon. Cloud is also reportedly coming with the Midgar stage.

Day Herald reported that, aside from Cloud, the game will also feature updates that will balance the game out. These updates are primarily designed to give both casual and advanced players a well-balanced brawling experience. The upcoming DLC will also bring Chocobo costumes for Mii fighters.

To date, other incoming characters aren't confirmed just yet. While recent reports stating half-genie Shantae (from WayForward Technologies) and Shovel Knight (from Yacht Club) are coming have gone out, “Smash Bros” maker Nintendo still hasn't released any official word regarding the matter. Thus, fans can only do nothing but wait.

However, the waiting might soon be over. According to Nintendo Everything, Nintendo of America's Damon Baker, senior manager of licensing and marketing, said that an announcement is coming today.

“Speaking of announcements, I wish I could tell you guys, but stay tuned for Monday,” he said during Nintendo World Report's podcast.

“Monday there’s going to be something… something happening on Monday. It’s going to be big.”

Fans, this could be the reveal everyone's been waiting for.

“Stay tuned,” Baker added. “It’s going to be good.”
