After airing for 11 seasons, it seems like "Bones" is about to come to an end. Following a lawsuit against FOX, main stars David Boreanaz (Seeley Booth) and Emily Deschanel (Temperance Brennan) are not to keen in returning for another season.
According to Moviefone, Boreanaz and Deschanel both believed that FOX owed them "tens of millions of dollars." Both stars, who also serve as producers, were promised a 3% share of profits, with executive producer Kathleen Reichs getting 5%, but the trio claimed that the network failed to honor what was agreed upon. It was said that FOX failed to give them their rightful share in the more than $100 million "Bones" earned in the past couple of years.
The outlet speculated that "Bones" may eventually get cancelled after season 11 following the lawsuit. Although there are still several themes and plotlines that writers could further explore, many fans, and even the actors themselves, felt that it was time to say goodbye.
Speaking to E! News, Boreanaz admitted that he was thinking of leaving "Bones" after season 11. The actor believed that what the show has run its course and it may be time to try something new.
"It's a great way to wrap the whole series up and I'm excited about that. For me, personally, I think it's time. I think that 11 seasons is great," he said.
Boreanaz further added that his possible exit had nothing to do with the show running for too long. He explained that they have beyond proven what the series is capable of. He added that they wanted to show to end the way they intended to, not because the network has already pulled the plug.
FOX's Dana Walden, however, previously stated that they are open to doing another season of Bones, if the cast and crew will be willing to give it another shot.
