Kate Middleton attended her first official engagement of the year. During the event, she revealed to one of the honorees, Lucinda Conder that her son Prince George is very fond of planes and wants to join the air force.
On Sunday, Feb. 7, the Duchess of Cambridge made an elegant appearance at the Air Cadets to mark their 75th anniversary. Donning in a blue custom-made Alexander McQueen coat, Kate was all smile and pledged to help bring more volunteers on board.
During the event, Middleton proudly wore an Air Cadets Dacre brooch, which is known to be the highest award for any female cadet can achieve. While meeting the selection of current cadets and veterans, the proud royal mom couldn't help it but gush about her two-year-old son, Prince George.
Kate told the 19-year-old Conder that her lovely son wants to follow his dad's footstep. "He is now obsessed with the air cadets and wants to join," Conder shared to the reporters on Sunday.
Cadet Conder also strongly believes that having Kate involved in the RAF can bring a good impact. She also thinks that the Duchess presence will encourage more female to join the cadets.
"It's brilliant to have Kate involved. It's just really nice to have a female patron for us girls," Conder said to the reporters. "Kate is passing the responsibility down the royal family. And it's also nice to have a new, refreshing, younger patron. I think she's going to bring alive the air cadets again."
The duchess attended the service at RAF church St Clement Danes, London, and then the reception was held nearby at the Royal Courts of Justice, where the Cadets introduced their new patron.
It was in December last year when the Duke of Edinburgh passed the patronage of the RAF Air Cadets on Kate, after 63 years serving as Air Commodore-in-Chief.
