Being royal is synonymous with getting the royal treatment. And, it isn't only Queen Elizabeth who gets the royal treatment; her two corgis also get the pampering every dog in the world would be envious of, especially during mealtime.
Yes, while most people would order fillet steaks and chicken breasts in restaurants, the Queen's two corgis, Willow and Holly, are given these great treats during mealtime, specially prepared by chefs. Now if dogs will know this, you can expect them to line up at the entrance of Buckingham Palace and apply as one of Her Majesty's royal dogs.
The 89-year old monarch's corgis are fed with specially designed meals, according to People. Their food is not placed on any ordinary plate but are placed on silver platters.
"Each dog had an individually designed menu, including an array of homeopathic and herbal remedies," Dr. Roger Mugford, a corgi trainer, during an interview with U.K.'s Town and Country magazine, said "Their food was served by a butler in an eclectic collection of battered silver and porcelain dishes."
He also described the feeding sessions of the dogs with Queen Elizabeth. He said that the corgis would be sitting in a semi-circle around her, then they would be fed one by one. The older ones get to be fed first, and the younger ones patiently wait for their turn.
One of the most famous dogs of the Queen was Monty. This dog got the chance of trotting alongside her during the mini-movie made for the opening ceremony of the 2012 London Olympics.
The Queen's love for her dogs is something known to many. One royal biographer Brian Hoey said that the meals of the dogs are delivered by a footman. Their meals are covered with gravy and it is the Queen herself who pours it. In addition, their dinner is at 5:00 PM sharp daily, as per Daily Mail report.
"When she's talking about her dogs or her horses you see a completely different side to her: she relaxes," Mugford said. Because of her age, Queen Elizabeth has no plans to add more dogs as she does not want to leave any behind.
