The CW recently debunked cancellation rumors surrounding "Reign" season 3 when it announced that the show will return in late April. Not only that, star Adelaide Kane also posted a new behind-the-scenes photo, suggesting some interesting details about the show's plot.
According to Fashion & Style, The CW announced that the third season of "Reign" will be replacing "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend," once the show closes its first season. In spite of a hiatus in January, the drama will be coming back on April 25.
"Reign" previously ran on Fridays instead of Mondays. As it turns out, the change in schedule is intended to - hopefully - boost the show's ratings, as previous claims said that the show was suffering due to a wrong timeslot.
"The great news for 'Reign' fans here is that they now have a chance to show that some of the low ratings this season were due to timeslot;" reports Carter Matt. "If they can do that, then maybe they'll have at least some sort of a chance at a fourth season down the road."
Adelaide Kane, who portrays Mary Stuart, posted a photo on Instagram a couple of weeks ago. Kane sparked speculations that Mary might be returning to Scotland, with a teasing caption, "Queenie in the castle... But which castle?"
On February 11, the show's writers happily announced via Twitter that the team had finally finished writing the last scripts for "Reign" season 3. "That's a wrap on writing #ReignSeason3," they wrote. "What an amazing season. We can't wait for you to see the rest!"
"Reign" season three returns on Monday, April 25 on The CW at 8PM.
