Daddy To The Rescue: Dad Wore His Old Superman Costume To Boost His Daughter's Confidence

Here comes Superhero Day! While many kids get excited at the prospect of becoming their favorite superheroes, three-year-old Phoebe wasn't sharing their excitement. She was quite anxious at wearing a boy's "Batman" costume. So Dad has to come to the rescue by wearing his old Superman costume and walked her daughter to school!

Danny Arnold didn't hesitate to become Superman for Superhero Day when he saw that Phoebe felt embarrassed at going to school in a "Batman" costume. Parenting recounted the words of Claire Phipps, Arnold's fiancée, saying, "This was the first time I've seen my little one feels less about herself, which to me was heartbreaking."

In order to boost his daughter's confidence, Arnold sprang into action and donned his old Superman Halloween costume, wore it, and walked his daughter to school dressed as the Man of Steel. He believed that by doing so, he would be able to teach his daughter to believe in herself.

In a Yahoo News report, Arnold said, "I gave Phoebe her superhero outfit this morn for her school Superhero Day but she refused to put it on because she was afraid of being different." He added that his three-year-old felt silly.

"So I put my kit on so she wouldn't be alone. Your children should never feel silly! Or if they do -- not care about doing so," the father said. "Too many people these days concern themselves with how other people think about them -- even complete strangers. Do whatever makes you smile and live a little."

Phipps took a picture of Arnold and Phoebe as they walked towards school and immediately posted it on her Facebook page with a caption, "Walking to School Like a Boss." She didn't expect that her post would go viral.

Some Facebook commenters said of the post, "An inspiration to all Dads!!!" Another said, "There's a Daddy right there..."

Just like Phipps, Arnold himself didn't expect that when he wore the Superman costume for Phoebe, he will elicit great responses from a lot of strangers. He said that he was just glad that he's sending a "positive message about fatherhood" to fathers of little girls.
