Apple iPhone Rumors, News & Updates: iPhone 7 Gets 256GB Upgrade & Dual-Camera Technology

Apple's iPhone 7 may be slated for release later this year and although there's still plenty of time until the iPhone 7 comes out, several rumors have surfaced, giving on-lookers an idea of what's to come with the upcoming iPhone.

Recently, several reports have been claiming that the iPhone 7 could see a huge storage boost: a 256GB storage capacity - perfect for those who splurge on memory-hoarding app and digital apps, as well as those who love to record 4K videos.

However, attaining that possibility might prove to be a bit more challenging for Apple, whose competitor already has what it needs.

"And it turns out that Apple's main rival, who happens to be a major iPhone partner and an expert in mobile storage components, has just the chip the iPhone maker might need for 256GB iPhones and iPads," reports Chris Smith of BGR.

On Thursday, Samsung announced the "industry's first 256GB UFS storage module that will target high-end mobile devices." In fact, the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Samsung Galaxy S7 are already equipped with a UFS type storage, which makes the phones perform much faster.

If Apple fails to improve the storage capacity of the iPhone 7, there's always another feature that can convince consumers to go for the iPhone 7 variation. According to MacRumors, "Apple is said to be working on a version of the iPhone 7 Plus with a 12-megapixel dual-lens camera system."

Apparently, Apple was able to obtain the new technology when they acquired Israeli camera company LinX Imaging last year.

If the dual-lens camera is implemented in the iPhone 7, image quality would be given a significant boost - which can easily narrow the gap between photos taken with an iPhone and photos taken with DSLR cameras.

The iPhone 7 is slated for release in fall of 2016.
