"Sons of Anarchy" star Charlie Hunnam is expected to reprise his iconic bad boy biker role, Jackson 'Jax' Teller, in the FX series' upcoming prequel. In an earlier interview, however, the 35-year-old actor said that he has already bid his character goodbye. Does this mean Hunnam will not star in the "SoA" prequel?
Charlie Hunnam's appearance in the highly anticipated "Sons of Anarchy" prequel as Jax Teller remains uncertain. In an interview with Deadline, FX series creator Kurt Sutter shared that the prequel will take place right before Jax's birth.
Sutter revealed to the publication that the "SoA" prequel will feature Jax's father, John Teller. Brad Pitt is rumored to play the role but casting news and details for the prequel are expected to be announced during the Memorial Day weekend in May.
"At some point I do have plans to hopefully do the prequel, which I do see as a one-off 10- or 12-episode thing where we begin in Nam and see John Teller and Piney and see how that relationship got created," he said. "[The prequel will be] ending before we start to get too close to some of the mythology that's already been established."
Given that the "Sons of Anarchy" prequel will take place years before Jax's birth, it does not make sense to see Hunnam reprise his role in the show. However, fans remained hopeful that if Hunnam will not reprise his role, he will be taking on a completely different character in the series.
In an earlier interview with GQ, the "Pacific Rim 2" actor revealed that he went through a hard time moving forward after "Sons of Anarchy" came to an end in 2014.
"But saying good-bye to the character was a mother f**ker," he said. "It was a lot of tears for, like, two or three weeks, every time I thought about it."
Hunnam, however, admitted that after going through such a difficult time, he finally realized that he had to say goodbye to his role as Jax Teller.
