Brady Kahle, a nine-year-old boy from Massachusetts loves more his friends than his prized collection of baseball cards. He sold his baseball cards to help his little league friend, Landen Palatino, who has been diagnosed with brain cancer.
Parenting reports that the generous and thoughtful young boy had collected about $7,000 from the sale. Brady sold them at the Springfield's Cards and Collectibles Show. He also named his project Cards for a Cause. "I have so many baseball cards that I wanted them to go to a good cause," Brady said.
Brady even sold his most valuable cards that including a card autographed by Nolan Ryan, the famous Texas Rangers player. He also has a ball that is signed by the Baltimore Orioles' Cal Ripken. These two items cost $250.
Daily Mail reports that his mother was so amazed at Brady's generous spirit. "It's unbelievable to see the work he puts into it," Jessie Kahle, the mother of Brady said. "He takes it very seriously and stays up late sorting cards."
There are also more than 100 companies that support Brady's mission. He received donations from other card and collection companies. What made Brady happier too was the invitation to Boston's Fenway Park for a special ceremony on April 21. It will be hosted by the Red Sox.
"I was crazy when I got that call (from the Red Sox)," Brady said. "This has been a dream of mine for forever."
Meanwhile, Landen's mother, Tina Palatino, said that she cannot understand Brady for giving up his precious cards. On the other hand, when they talked about it, her heart melted upon hearing the generous gesture. A GoFundMe Page also raised $15,710 for the Palatino family, which is already over 100 times its initial goal of $1,500.
