"Person of Interest" Season 5 is officially the CBS sci-fi drama's series finale on TV. This recent announcement from the network validated fans and viewers' fears about the show's future after its episode count has been reduced. While "POI" Season 5 may be the end of the show on CBS, could Netflix renew the series for another season?
"Person of Interest" is officially coming to an end after Season 5 on CBS, but fans remain hopeful that the show will get to continue its story in another network. The confirmation came from executive producers Jonathan Nolan and Greg Plageman in a statement to IGN.
The showrunners thanked the fans and avid viewers of "POI" who continued to support the series from its first season all the way to its last. Nolan and Plageman said that the show's fans are "the best fans in the world."
"As life has come to imitate Person of Interest, it's been our great privilege to work on show for the past five seasons. We can't wait for you to experience this thrilling and final chapter," they said.
"Person of Interest" Season 5 will be airing two episodes each week every Monday and Tuesday beginning on May 3. The finale episode will air on June 21.
While many fans were heartbroken over the show's cancellation on CBS, they remained optimistic that another network, specifically Netflix, would renew "Person of Interest" for Season 6.
The online petition on Change.org, which aims to save "Person of Interest" from cancellation, has already received over 30,000 signatures as of writing.
Fans began asking everyone to send their pleas to Netflix in hopes of seeing the show continue its story in another network. Many fans also believed that the "POI" fandom should start voting for Root and Shaw at the Zimbio poll in order to prove to Netflix that there is still a lot of support for the show.
