Fans of the CBS sci-fi drama "Person of Interest" are still doing their best to save the show from cancellation after Season 5. Rumors surrounding the show's possible series finale on TV came after the episode count was reduced from 22 to 13.
CBS also delayed the release date of "POI" Season 5, which only fueled speculations that the show will be cancelled. Aside from this, the show's writers also posted a photo on Twitter with what seems to be a cryptic caption, almost confirming what fans have been fearing all along.
"#theend," captioned "Person of Interest" writers on the cast and crew's group photo.
Master Herald stated that this caption alone almost seems like a confirmation that "Person of Interest" Season 5 will be cancelled on CBS. Fans, however, remain hopeful that their ongoing petition will help save the show and renew it for another season in another network such as Netflix, if not in CBS.
Meanwhile, "Person of Interest" executive producer J.J. Abrams expressed his worries and sentiments over the show's future on TV.
"My guess is [Season 5] is the final season," he said during the Television Critics Association, according to TV.com. "The only heartbreak there is how much good story there was to come if it were to have continued."
Abrams also spoke highly about the show's writers and remained hopeful that they can still continue to tell the story in some form or another. The showrunner also shared that "Person of Interest" Season 5 will still be aired despite rumors claiming that even the upcoming season will not be released on TV.
"Person of Interest" Season 5 is expected to premiere this spring on CBS.
