"The Vampire Diaries" Season 7 may end with another major character's departure; that is, if recent reports and rumors are true. According to International Business Times, rumors are rife that Ian Somerhalder may be quitting his role as Damon in the CW series.

"The Vampire Diaries" Season 7 spoilers hint that the upcoming episode entitled, "Days of Future Past" will see Rayna convincing Stefan to let go of Damon. The publication noted that while Stefan was initially reluctant to let his brother go, the new promo for the episode showed that Rayna was finally able to convince him.

"Are you finally ready to leave Damon behind," asks Rayna.

"Yes," Stefan tells her.

Fans became increasingly worried that "TVD" Season 7 may end with Damon either being put to sleep next to Elena or Damon being killed. As seen on the last episode of the series, Damon chose to have Rayna's mark transferred to him in order to save Stefan.

Will Ian Somerhalder leave "The Vampire Diaries" after Season 7?

While the actor is yet to comment on the issue, The Hollywood Gossip reported that Ian Somerhalder is blaming his ex-girlfriend, Nina Dobrev for leaving the show after Season 6.

"TVD" ratings dropped after Dobrev decided to leave the series after Season 6. Somerhalder allegedly blamed Dobrev for the drop in the ratings and the show's possible cancellation on TV.
