A 46-year old man was used to consuming a whopping 29,000-calorie diet daily because he wanted to get into world record books, the Daily Mail reports.
Barry Austin weighed approximately 910 pounds and in his 20's, his goal was to become Britain's fattest man. He has starred in documentaries, had his own magazine column and even appeared in a TV drama alongside Timothy Spall. However, now at the age of 46, all he wants is to be able to survive another year. He is currently unwell due to obesity-related illnesses but has already lost 280 pounds.
Austin struggles to breathe, suffers from infections and regrets his misguided quest for fame. He now wants to break away from his situation and serve as a reminder to everyone that young people should not overeat. On his Facebook page, Austin was shown in a boxing ring, surrounded by his friends. "I'm going to do this. I will lose this weight. I've put it on, now I'll lose it. I don't want surgery. I'm going down the gym. I'm going to teach the kids to not be like me."
He confirms that his weight has been stuck around 680 pounds even if he is already following a strict, low-calorie diet. "I don't eat a lot now. Today, I had a porridge for breakfast and a ham sandwich for lunch, with a mince pie as a treat. Tonight, I'll have chicken breast, a jacket of potato and vegetables. I used to drink 12 liters of Coke a day, but now I just have two liters of Pepsi Max and I also drink sparkling mineral water - the fizz tricks my brain into thinking it's pop."
