"The Night Manager" stars Tom Hiddleston, Tom Hollander and Hugh Laurie share a common childhood history, they each went to Dragon School preparatory in Oxford. Just like Tom Hiddleston, Tom Hollander and Hugh Laurie, "Harry Potter" star Emma Watson also had her educational beginnings in Dragon School.
According to The Guardian, although "The Night Manager" stars Tom Hiddleston, Tom Hollander and Hugh Laurie are among the elites in British performers, Dragon School is the starting ground for the general British elite. Long before the time of rumored "Sherlock" cast Tom Hiddleston, "Dr. Thorne" star Tom Hollander and "House" star Hugh Laurie, Dragon School was designed to be a co-ed boarding school and day school.
The description by possible "Sherlock" cast Tom Hiddleston of his Dragon School years is somewhat consistent with the elite school's description of its brand of education. "I don't remember 'learning' anything, and yet I learned everything," Tom Hiddleston said.
The Witney Gazette reports that Dragon School headmaster John Baugh attests to the school's stance in encouraging creativity. "At the Dragon we firmly believe that children are naturally creative; and that children remain creative if they are encouraged and nurtured."
Dragon School was founded in 1877 by Oxford University fellows for the education of their children. Dragon School has been run for many years by the Lynam family. One-third of the Dragon School population are boarding pupils, 16% of which come from British families situated overseas and 4% of which come from foreign families around the globe.
Education in Dragon School is not inexpensive. A single term in Dragon School for boarding pupils costs as much as $13,000 (£9,340). Day time Dragon School pupils pay as much as $9,000 (£6,480).
The media agency enumerates the following as just a few inclusions to the alumni roster of Dragon School: John Betjeman, Antonia Fraser, Alain de Botton, Peter Jay, David Shukman, Rageh Omaar, Hugh Gaitskell, Baroness Young, Rory Stewart, Tim Henman, Jack Davenport, Hugh Dancy, Dom Joly, Jack Whitehall. Of course Emma Watson, Tom Hollander, Hugh Laurie and Tom Hiddleston wear the unshakeable brand of Dragon School, too.
