"Captain America: Civil War" early reviews are in and the verdict is generally good. The studio set an advance screening for members of the press Friday night and the overall response from the select audience has been favorable.
Comic Book reports that the special screening comes a month ahead of the theater run for "Captain America: Civil War" and soon after, critics posted their short reviews on Twitter. The critics were mostly positive about the Marvel movie compared to the reviews they gave for "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice."
So much comparison is being made between both films since they share a similar theme as pitting two well-loved superheroes against each other. In "BVS," which ran in theaters in mid-March, Batman and Superman fought each other, while Captain America and Iron Man will be dividing their Avengers alliance in "Captain America: Civil War," when it premieres on May 6.
Critics are saying that this is the best Marvel movie they have seen in recent years, which highlights one of the best fight scenes in the superhero franchise. The characters were also carefully written with "respect and affection," per What Culture.
It alludes to the difference in the characterization for "BVS," which critics said portrayed so much hatred for Superman. Check out some of the good early reviews from critics for "Captain America: Civil War" below:
As for the movie's drawbacks, some reviews have pointed out that it has a few problems with pacing and it didn't highlight the villain, Baron Zemo, enough, per The Independent. However, it has been hinted earlier that Baron Zemo will have a bigger participation in succeeding films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Director Anthony Russo wanted to put the focus of "Captain America: Civil War" towards the conflict between the Avengers.
