The much-awaited "Delena" reunion between Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder on "The Vampire Diaries" may finally take place. The 37-year-old actor recently revealed that Season 8 will be The CW series' last on TV.
Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev are expected to reunite on the small screens once "The Vampire Diaries" comes to an end. In a recent interview, Somerhalder delivered the news that the show is coming to an end after Season 8, reports Variety.
"We have decided to do one last season to really do the story justice," said Somerhalder.
It has been earlier revealed that the highly anticipated "Delena" reunion will take place in the series finale of 'TVD." Kat Graham, who plays the role of Bonnie, has also announced her departure from the show.
"Season eight will be my last season," shared Graham. "I just hope that whatever I do after, the crew can come with me."
With Graham's departure on "TVD" Season 8, it seems more likely that Dobrev and Somerhalder's reunion will be happening in the upcoming season, notes Celeb Dirty Laundry. As most fans and viewers can recall, Elena can only wake up from her sleep the moment Bonnie dies.
Bonnie may be killed off in the earlier part of "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 in order to give more air time for Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder's characters. The publication, however, notes on the possibility that Somerhalder's exit from the show may pave the way for Dobrev's return in the series.
It has been rumored that Dobrev left "TVD" after Season 6 because of her awkward relationship with Somerhalder and his wife, Nikki Reed. The network, however, revealed that "no decision has been made" with regards to the show's future on TV.
