‘Creed’ Star In ‘Thor 3’: Natalie Portman Ditched As Chris Hemsworth's Love Interest From 'Thor: Ragnarok'

"Creed" actress Tessa Thompson is set to star opposite lead Chris Hemsworth, "Sherlock" contender Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Cate Blanchett, Mark Ruffalo as The Hulk, Jamie Alexander and Lou Ferrigno. The "Creed" actress is reportedly taking the place of Natalie Portman in the Marvel Universe as the new love interest for Chris Hemsworth.

Tessa Thompson To Play Superhero

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the "Creed" star will reportedly assume a superhero role and join the fray in "Thor: Ragnarok." The "Creed" star, though, has landed a lucrative role as the character Tessa Thompson will play in "Thor: Ragnarok" is expected to appear in other Marvel films.

Although no news has been released about the name of the "Creed" star's character in "Thor: Ragnarok" Screen Rant points out that Tessa Thompson may actually play The Enchantress or Brunhilde, two female characters in the comic books that had been linked a few times with the Norse god. As The Enchantress, the "Creed" star will set a tone of villainy. If Tessa Thompson plays Brunhilde, the "Creed" star will be champion of goodness.

Bigger Things In Store For 'Thor: Ragnarok'

Deadline reports that Tessa Thompson and Natalie Portman will not completely miss each other as the "Creed" actress will join the former "Thor" leading lady in Alex Garland's "Annihilation." Not much has been said about the switch from Natalie Portman, but this might have to do with the new tone that "Thor: Ragnarok" is expected to have.

For one, "Thor: Ragnarok" director Taika Waititi is expected to take the final solo "Thor" film into an epic conclusion of the franchise's trilogy balanced by a strong dose of humor. Besides the new character that "Creed" star Tessa Thompson is bringing to life, "Thor: Ragnarok" promises a special spotlight on The Hulk. Previous reports hinted that The Hulk will get uncharacteristically chatty in "Thor: Ragnarok."

The "Creed" star's role is not the only one enveloped in mystery. To date, word is yet to be released on what prominent female character Cate Blanchett is going to play in "Thor: Ragnarok."

One thing is sure, "Thor: Ragnarok" is a rolling snowball of promise. Luckily, the "Creed" actress is not likely to get intimidated by what "Thor: Ragnarok" will demand, as Tessa Thompson is no stranger to playing key roles. The "Creed" star is as much an anticipated player on HBO's new "Westworld" series with Sir Anthony Hopkins as she is on "Thor: Ragnarok."
