The reboot for "Tales From The Crypt" under M. Knight Shyamalan is rolling on TNT. The cable network announced Thursday that it has placed an initial order of 10 episodes for its return. The anthology, which originally ran from 1989 to 1996, will be filling its horror block.
M.Knight Shyamalan, who is famous for the suspense movie "The Sixth Sense," expressed that he is thrilled for his latest project on television. "That such a beloved property like 'Tales from the Crypt' is launching our evening makes it an even more unique and exciting opportunity," he said in the press release, per Deadline.
"Tales From The Crypt" will also have a Crypt Keeper just like in the old series, but this has been reinvented to fit into TNT's programming, per Entertainment Weekly. The anthology is based on the comic series penned by William Gaines.
Comic Book Resources reports that the reboot will feature stories from the comics aside from new inspirations. Meanwhile, serving as executive producer of the show, M.Knight Shyamalan will be presenting "short and long-form projects" for the network's horror block.
Thus, "Tales From The Crypt" will be launched alongside two other anthology series on TNT entitled "Time of Death" and "Creatures." TV Line shares the loglines of these programs and based on the details, "Time of Death" is touted as a horror series that will "unfold in real time," while "Creatures" is labeled as a psychological thriller.
TNT's horror block will be coming to cable in 2017. Once filled with crime drama series like "Rizzoli & Isles," "Major Crimes" and "The Closer," the network hopes to cut a niche among fans of suspense, thrillers and horrors with these upcoming offerings, per The Hollywood Reporter.
