Robert Downey Jr. has changed his mind about doing "Iron Man 4" again. During a TV news crews' set visit to "Captain America: Civil War," which stars the actor along with Chris Evans, he casually stated he's on board a fourth installment. But Robert Downey Jr. has flip-flopped about "Iron Man 4" many times before. Below is a roundup of his interviews concerning the next production of "Iron Man."
Entertainment Weekly reports that when the "Nightline" crew had a set visit, Robert Downey Jr., who is Tony Stark/Iron Man in the Marvel movies, hinted that "Iron Man 4" could be happening. "I feel like I could do one more," he told the crew. Watch his interview at the bottom of this article.
"Iron Man 4" Has Been Anticipated Since 2013
The third, and so far last, "Iron Man" film ran in theaters in 2013 and since then, fans have been discussing about a follow-up. But back in 2014, Robert Downey Jr. flat out said that no project exists. At that time, he was holding off making more movies about superheroes, per Variety.
But by October of that same year, Robert Downey Jr. humored the journalist from Deadline and said that he would make an "Iron Man 4" if Marvel enlists Mel Gibson as the director. Not long after that, he sat on Ellen DeGeneres' couch on her show and said yes to a fourth "Iron Man."

When Robert Downey Jr. Said No To "Iron Man 4"
By 2015, the actor was singing a different tune when he hinted he's getting too old to be playing Tony Stark. "I also recognize that I'll be turning 50 by the time I promote this movie," he said, per Screen Rant. "The clock is ticking down on the amount of memories and participation that I would allow myself and not embarrass the medium with."
Regardless of the outcome of the film's production, movie-goers can still catch Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark or Iron Man in "Captain America: Civil War." It will be in U.S. theaters May 6. Watch the actor's "Nightline" interview below:
