Claire Betrays Marriage
According to TVGuide, Claire is going to do things that are in essence a betrayal of her marriage with Jamie. She will try to convince the right people that Jamie shouldn't spend his whole life locked in prison. And by "the right people," it means going to the top, King Louis XV (Lionel Lingelser).
Vulture shared an exclusive clip that showed Caitriona's character, Claire, petitioning the King of France. Privately. In his bedroom. The king asks Claire, "Now, tell me what is it I may do for you?"
Caitriona told Vulture of her character, "She realizes there's a price to pay. But she's willing to do it. Just for her to get Jamie back, that's worth anything."
