PlayStation racing fans are finally getting their prized racing franchise later this year exclusively on PS4 via "Gran Turismo Sport." Developer Polyphony Digital reportedly promised that "Gran Turismo Sport" will be compatible with PlayStation VR.
The 'Gran Turismo' Series
The "Gran Turismo" series, developed by Polyphony Digital has sold over 75 million copies. The first "Gran Turismo" iteration came out in 1997.
"Gran Turismo" is known for its realistic physics, graphics, customizability and huge car selection. Needless to say, "Gran Turismo" is the biggest selling franchise brand for PlayStation.
Better Than 'Gran Turismo 6'
"Gran Turismo Sport" is not a numbered entry in the series. However, "Gran Turismo Sport" is the first iteration of the game that comes out since 2013.
"Gran Turismo 6" released in 2013 sold close to five million copies. However, "Gran Turismo 6" was not received as well as its predecessors.
A number of reasons worked against "Gran Turismo 6," stifling its acceptance. Most notable of these are the "Gran Turismo 6" micro transactions.
The Playstation.com boasts that "Gran Turismo Sport" will give users global and online races, which are approved by the Federation International Automobile (FIA). Pre-orders of "Gran Turismo Sport" gives early access to a three-car offering, which includes the Ford Mustang Group B rally car, the Toyota FT-1 Vision GT Group and the Peugeot 908 HDi FAP LMP1.
Playstation VR Support For 'Gran Turismo Sport'
Certainly "Gran Turismo Sport" will join the VR platform bandwagon. Polyphony Digital head, Kazunori Yamauchi, stated that they intend to make sure that "Gran Turismo Sport" will be fully PlayStation VR compatible at launch.
No 'Gran Turismo Sport' Beta
PlayStationLifeStyle.net reports that Kazunori Yamauchi apologized that "Gran Turismo Sport" will not have a beta version. According to the game director, the team used the time to refine the master code for "Gran Turismo Sport" instead.
This is a welcome development for "Gran Turismo" following as no doubt news such will push demand for Sony's new VR headset through the roof. "Gran Turismo Sport" is scheduled for release this November 15th exclusively for Sony's Playstation 4.
