[VIDEO] Dreams Do Come True! How A 3-Year-Old Boy With Stage 4 Brain Cancer Becomes An NYC Firefighter

Do you believe that dreams do come true? Perhaps not all, but a 3-year-old boy with cancer named Trucker Dukes will be a living proof that dreams come true as he will become a honorary member of New York's Fire Department on May 31.

On the Facebook video shared by TODAY Parents, Trucker Dukes has been battling stage 4 neuroblastoma, a rare and aggressive type of cancer affecting the nervous system, for a year and a half. The brave toddler is reportedly happy spending time with his firefighter friends at New York's Fire Department.

Trucker Dukes and his mom Shauna, who are originally from Maui, Hawaii, have been living in New York while he was being treated for neuroblastoma at New York's Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Huffington Post notes. According to Shauna, Trucker, whose dad Joshua Dukes is a firefighter in Hawaii, was born a firefighter.

Luckily, Shauna and Trucker Dukes were able to meet Captain James Grismer of New York's Fire Department when they responded to a kitchen fire at the Dukes' building and Trucker instantly formed a bond with the captain. He even visited the fire station, where fellow firefighters threw him a third birthday party.

Due to Trucker Dukes' bond with the fire department, New York Fire Commissioner Daniel A. Nigro reached out to the Dukes and offered to make it official. According to TODAY Parents, the toddler will swore in as an honorary firefighter at the FDNY's Brooklyn headquarters on May 31.

Meanwhile, TeamTrucker.org is currently raising funds to cover travel costs for Trucker's family so they can attend the ceremony on Tuesday. To learn more about this, please check out Generosity.
