Is Your Baby Addicted to Junk Food?

The ongoing battle against obesity is still being fought by health care professionals. as obesity continually to increase in numbers, the ages of individuals at risk for obesity gets younger.

A study revealed that children two and below are already prone to consume junk food. To make matters worse, these toddlers are getting hooked on junk wherein they would prefer eating junk food over their homemade meals.

Babies should have fruits and veggies during their first meals, which is ideally mixed with their whole grain cereals. Finger foods and chips should technically be avoided at all times. Though parents would want to give their child only the best, a study revealed that children as young as two are being fed junk food.

Parents noted that the study revealed shocking date wherein 40 percent of children below 12 months are already eating brownies, cookies and even potato chips. It was also revealed that by the time the babies reached the age of two, less than half of them (the ones that participated in the study) are eating fruits and veggies.

Another date revealed by the researchers suggests that the main source fruit for babies at the age of one are fruit juices which are often artificial and loaded with sugar. And around 30 percent of babies (two and below) are already consuming soda and other sweetened beverages as reported by Beech Nut.

As for their food, the studies reveal that by the age of one, babies are already consuming reach fries and potato chips in lieu of their vegetable consumption. By the time they would reach a year and a half, they are already consuming 6.5 teaspoons of sugar every day, which is equivalent to a cup of soda.
