"Sherlock Holmes" 3 is set to film with 'Iron Man' star Robert Downey Jr. and 'Spy' actor Jude Law. Guy Ritchie will direct "Sherlock Holmes" 3 and presumably several more sequels that are hinted to come.
'Sherlock Holmes 3' Back In Production
Collider reports that lead Robert Downey Jr and co-star Jude Law, as John Watson, are finally buckling down for "Sherlock Holmes" 3. Robert Downey Jr himself made the initial revelation about the resumption of "Sherlock Holmes" 3 production.
This is welcome development as "Sherlock Holmes" 3 is long overdue, with the second instalment released 5 years ago. Understandably Robert Downey Jr had been busy with his Marvel commitments, complicating schedule arrangements with Jude Law and Guy Ritchie for "Sherlock Holmes" 3.
Fall Schedule For 'Sherlock Holmes 3'
According to Collider, producer Joel Silver confirmed eyeing a fall production start for "Sherlock Holmes" 3. Joel Silver revealed that Robert Downey Jr and the team are quite happy with the "Sherlock Holmes" 3 script.
Fall would be the logical work date for "Sherlock Holmes" 3 given a post-New Year schedule for Robert Downey Jr on "Avengers: Infinity War." Happily, Jude Law and Guy Ritchie are also able to fit in the fall schedule for "Sherlock Holmes" 3, after wrapping up "Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur."
More 'Sherlock Holmes' Films Coming
Joel Silver reassured that "Sherlock Holmes" will not be treated as a trilogy and a few more sequels can be expected. The producer likened "Sherlock Holmes" to the "James Bond" franchise, which has enjoyed several generations of sequels to say the least.
/FILM reports that "Overwatch" associate producer James Coyden signed up to rework the original "Sherlock Holmes" 3 draft by Drew Pearce. The earlier draft for "Sherlock Holmes" 3 was begun by Drew Pearce as far back as 2011.
Collider points out that if the fall shoot this year goes as planned, "Sherlock Holmes" 3 could see a theater release as early as 2018. Otherwise, as Joel Silver put it, "Sherlock Holmes" 3 will come around another time.
