"Minecraft" creator and Mojang co-founder Markus "Notch" Persson was involved in a gender-shaming incident via social media. In a Twitter exchange, the "Minecraft" creator met with umbrage from feminists when Markus Persson responded to a "mansplaining" post by game designer Jennifer Scheurle.
In her post Jennifer Scheurle stated that "mansplaining" is a serious issue, more so because it silences females. Markus Persson posted a response wherein the "Minecraft" creator stated that the term "mansplaining" is in fact sexist.
According to Markus Persson, "mansplaining" is in fact a label used to silence men. The "Minecraft" creator further said that "mansplaining" as a term is a gender-shaming instrument.
While Markus Persson thereupon became engaged in a barrage of social media exchanges, the "Minecraft" creator explained his core view on women and men. By way of responding to a netizen's question, Markus Persson stated that women and men are equal in worth and should be given this regard.
The "Minecraft" creator also pointed out that people forget the oppression they inflict in calling for equality. "Anyone who in their fight for equality shames an entire gender is a much bigger b(******) than I could ever aspire to," the "Minecraft" designer said.
Netizens were not the only ones to react to Markus Persson in the feminist exchange. A few sites joined the debacle to call out the "Minecraft" creator.
Markus Persson particularly protested a story by Destructoid with the title "'Minecraft' Billionaire Feels Oppressed By Women." Markus Persson pointed out this was not what the "Minecraft" creator said at all and was instead calling attention to "mansplaining" being sexist.
Accusation of "mansplaining" to dismiss my argument about how mansplaining is used to dismiss arguments. https://t.co/zwlE5yVq10

According to Breitbart the response by the gaming public, including journalists, are disproportionate to the "Minecraft" creator's own response to his feminist critics. Another commenter suggested that Markus Persson's critics had their eye on the "Minecraft" creator's millions of social media followers.
In that case, I urge people who have been afraid to express their support to do so. We can turn this ship around. https://t.co/acw1Im1sOp — Markus Persson (@notch) May 23, 2016
The exchange is still trailing responses as Jennifer Scheurle thanked feminists for supporting her in the incident with Markus Persson. The "Minecraft" creator, on the other hand, seems to be rolling with the punches and taking both attacks and support in stride.
