'Mass Effect' New Earth News & Update: 4D Holograph Adventure On EA, Bioware Franchise? More High-Tech Entertainment Coming?

"Mass Effect" New Earth is a theme park attraction based on Electronic Art's hit video game series developed by Bioware. "Mass Effect" New Earth will open at the California's Great America theme park in Santa Clara, California USA this Spring as part of their new Action Theatre set of attractions.

The "Mass Effect" New Earth experience will allow visitors to travel to distant planets and battle enemies. The "Mass Effect" New Earth adventure is all in 4D with life performances and fourth wall breaking special effects.

As IGN reports, in this case 4D in "Mass Effect" New Earth will encompass moving seats (that also provide tactile feedback), the 3D visual effects (via the use of 3D glasses), gasses that emit smell and of course the live performances. California's Great America Vice President and General Manager Raul Rehnborg is excited at the prospect of sharing the "Mass Effect" New Earth project with the public.

"Teaming with a world-wide gaming leader like EA will enable us to build an incredible user experience for Great America guests," Raul Rehnborg said in the Great America website. "This combination of technology and creative video game content is sure to usher in a new wave of entertainment innovation at amusement parks."

On their end, both EA and Bioware are chuffed to do "Mass Effect" New Earth with Great America. According to EA Vice President of Entertainment and Licensing, Patrick O'Brien, Great America shares EA and Bioware's thrust of creating engaging entertainment for "Mass Effect" fans.

The translation of the "Mass Effect" franchise into a high-tech live experience is an accomplishment, to say the least. Patrick O'Brien says that they will continue to expand on the "Mass Effect" New Earth experience.

"Mass Effect" fans will have to wait a little longer for a new entry in the series. However, the "Mass Effect" New Earth experience will give those lucky enough to visit something to hold them over a little longer.

"Mass Effect" New Earth is not the first video game based them park attraction. However, "Mass Effect" New Earth may be the first based on a western game outside of Japan.
