Franchise developer 343 Industries highlighted "Halo Wars 2" to be the big reveal at the 2016 Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3). This may well be as "Halo Wars 2" is expected to reflect significant gameplay changes, with PC focus among other things.
Fall Release Date For 'Halo Wars 2'
"Halo Wars 2," the Creative Assembly sequel to the real-time strategy game, is developed by Ensemble Studios in collaboration with 343 Industries. A fall release is tagged for "Halo Wars 2."
'Halo Wars 2' Up That Next Level
Creative Assembly, who developed the "Total War" games, are planning to apply their experience of PC RTS games to "Halo Wars 2." This will essentially take "Halo Wars 2" to the next level on PC.
"Halo Wars" was originally developed by Ensemble Studios. This first "Halo Wars" was well-received for bringing the RTS genre to consoles, a genre which home has always been on the PC, and to a franchise established for its FPS (first person shooter) action.
'Halo 5' On PC Not On The Plate
Citing NDTV, creative director Frank O'Connor posted a clarification on NeoGAF (as "Stinkles") following recent news that "Halo 5" Forge will be coming to Windows 10. Frank O'Connor highlighted that Forge tools on Windows 10 does not mean "Halo 5" is PC-bound.
Gaming Bolt reports that such move will not be the main course to bring Microsoft's "Halo" franchise to PCs. Frank O'Connor denied any notion of bringing "Halo 5" to PC as it would not make sense to focus resources on bringing a year old game to a new platform.
PC Strength For 'Halo Wars 2'
Frank O'Connor said the next goal for 343 Industries and Microsoft is to focus on making the "Halo Wars 2" experience on PC memorable. Frank O'Connor expressed hopes that with Creative Assembly's PC RTS experience this will be achievable for "Halo Wars 2."
Frank O'Connor intended to drive this home to franchise fans in relation to "Halo Wars 2" release. Despite the clear statement that "Halo 5" is not coming to PC, Frank O'Connor did reiterate that Windows 10 will be an important platform for the franchise's future.
This fits in with the PC-centric thrust for "Halo Wars 2" and the franchise going forward. "Halo Wars 2" is currently planned to be released on Xbox One and Windows 10.
