The Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) is happening in a matter of days and Sony's E3 2016 presentation is projected to draw a big crowd. A lot of fans are expecting Sony will unveil, including the highly talked about new PlayStation console, PS4.5 Neo.
While already announced, the Sony booth at the E3 is also expected to present and demonstrate its upcoming batch of new games and the PlayStation Virtual Reality headset. It's going to be a really important time for Sony at the E3 this weekend given the number of products coming out. Below are more details of what gamers should see from their booth.
Sony E3 2016: The More Powerful PS4.5 Neo
Fans have been looking forward to seeing what the PS4.5 Neo can do ever since reports of it first came out in March. The upgraded PlayStation 4 console, also known as the PS4k, the PS4.5 and the PS Neo, is supposed to improve the capabilities of the current device in delivering 4K output.
While set for release in the last quarter of 2017, gamers might not actually be able to see a demonstration of the PS4.5 Neo at the Sony E3 2016 booth just yet. Most likely, visitors at the Sony booth would only get a teaser to the PS4.5 Neo in its presentation as it is planning to trounce its biggest competitor, Microsoft, per Forbes.
Sony E3 2016: The PlayStation VR Headset Demonstration, VR-Ready Games
Sony has already confirmed that the PSVR is hitting shelves in October. It's new technology that hasn't gone mainstream yet, but what better time to entice more gamers into checking it out than at the E3, right? The PSVR is definitely going to be a main feature at the Sony E3 2016 booth and lucky visitors are expected to be able to test it.
Of course, if there's a new VR machine, then there should also be VR-ready games so that visitors can really see its capabilities. Sony is expected to show off the following upcoming games, both regular and VR-ready, at their booth:
PSVR Games:
- "Battlezone"
- "Psychonauts in the Rhombus of Ruin"
- "Wayward Sky"
- "Volume: Coda," which is part of the PSVR expansion, per Engadget.
Regular Game Exclusives:
- "Headlander" (also in PSVR)
- "Eve: Valkyrie" (also in PSVR)
- "Rain World"
- "Shadow Warrior 2"
- "Yakuza 0"
- "Night In The Woods"
Regular Games from third party developers might also be presented at the Sony booth, such as "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare," "The Last Guardian" and "Horizon Zero Dawn." According to The Verge, there could be some announcements about upcoming games as well, including the anticipated sequel to "The Last Of Us."
