Baby Died Because of Drug Overdose, Here’s How it Happened

An 8 months old baby, Haddix James Mulkey, died after having been given a lethal dose of Benadryl by her nanny. Hadix mother Katie cried, "parents are supposed to go before their children, May baby went too early."

The Washington Post reported that the reason why he was given Bendryl by her nanny is because she wanted him to get to sleep. You would think that this kind of thoughtless thing to do can only be done by a younger nanny who doesn't know much about babies yet, but Haddix's nanny was already 43 years old. Her name was Lori Conley, and she was arrested last week for the crimes of child endangerment and murder.

It was reported that the baby was asleep over at Conley's house. The mother, Mulkey told in a report that it was strange to her how fast things could happen, when her baby does not have any bruises whatsoever that could cause his death.

A shock came when the investigators back to her with the news that it's was the nanny who gave the boy an adult dosage of an anti-allergy drug Benadryl to put him so sleep, as he was being fussy while under his care.

According to the report from Dispatch, Conley was babysitting 8 babies and toddlers at her home that time when she found Haddix unresponsive on the bouncy seat. That's when she grabbed the baby with him and called 911. It took a week before the toxicology report came back and Conley was charged. She had been cooperative so far. Conley was said to have been baby sitting as her source or income although she does not have a license baby to operate the business.

Now, Mulkey as much as she wanted justice for her son, is going to raise awareness to other people. She wants them to know about the dangers of using drugs to induce sleep for babies, as some adults think its ok to do that especially when they are busy.

Most importantly never compromise the condition of your child for you own convenience. Never.
