Grant Gustin revealed "The Flash" season 3 premiere title - "Flashpoint" via twitter today. The revelation was done after getting a go signal from producer Greg Berlanti. Just minutes later after the twitter post, Gustin reveals he's excited about the new season. The producer also twitted he's cool about revealing the title.
Grant Gust did not waste the moment of excitement and by letting the world know which fans are also ecstatic. "Flashpoint" is one of the Scarlet Speedster's most popular stories of the major DC Comics event series. Fans have predicted the "Flashpoint" to be the carrier of "The Flash" season 3 after the game-changing second season finale, "The Race of His Life," reports Comic Book Movie.
"The Flash" season 2 ended with Barry traveling back in time to prevent Eobard Thawne, the Reverse-Flash from killing his mother, Nora. In Season 3, Barry Allen will be expected to deal with the consequences of his own actions. "The Flash" previously attempted to restore the changes he made but ended up creating the new 52 DC Universe.
There's a huge hint that the third season will open in an alternate universe. The timeline where Thomas Wayne is Batman after Bruce Wayne's death and there is no known Superman or Supergirl while New Themyscira and Atlantis are on the verge of war. Barry Allen is the only one who remembers the changes and the true DC Universe timeline, of which he'll be shocked to see his mother alive in the new timeline, Comic Book says.
"The Flash" previously had a crossover with Supergirl's dimension so there are theories that Barry's action may recreate the new 52 DC Universe, this includes having Supergirl in Earth-1. Other crossovers are between "The Flash", "Arrow," and DC's "Legends of Tomorrow." With the other shows, will share similarities to how Flashpoint merged the Wildstorm and Vertigo universes in the original story.
Flashpoint is written by Geoff John, Chief Creative Officer of DC Entertainment, and drawn by Andy Kubert. "The Flash" season 3 will hit the screens on October 4, Tuesday.
