It's the final stretch for "Person of Interest" on CBS as the series airs its last episode, "Return 0," Tuesday, June 21 at 10 p.m. The potential for death has always been hanging ever since the team has been threatened by Samaritan, but will death really come into play in the end?
Lead star Michael Emerson hints the finale will be "mind-blowing" and end with "a little mystery." It might also lead to a reboot if the powers-that-be wants it.
TV Guide reports that Death is not yet finished claiming lives on "Person of Interest" with one episode left, and it looks like he's after Reese or Finch in the series finale. The Machine may very well succumb to the virus that Finch unleashed for Samaritan in the penultimate episode as well, and could count as among the casualties in the end.
'Person of Interest' Series Finale Ending To End With Mystery
Speaking with Zap2It, lead star Michael Emerson teased that the series finale is about "a mad scramble of an endgame." He hints that "Person of Interest" might end vaguely, as this is the nature of the show.
Michael Emerson also said that the series will close with a mystery that should leave viewers questioning how the world has changed in actual life. However, he didn't say whether it will be a happy or devastating ending for the main characters -- Reese, Finch, Shaw and Fusco -- but confirms "Return 0" will be a satisfactory end to the series overall.
'Person of Interest' Series Finale Ending Open For Reboot
The actor believes that the timing is right to end "Person Of Interest" now, following five great seasons on CBS. For him, it's mostly because working on the series has been challenging and tiring. "I guess I've reached that age where I don't have unlimited stamina," said Michael Emerson.
However, he also suggested that the story of "Person of Interest" will end with a potential for Chapter 2. "[If] someone, someday wanted to reboot this thing," said Michael Emerson via a TV Guide interview. "It wouldn't be out of the question," he added.
