Has 'Daredevil' Season 3 been renewed? The show's second season has been out in Netflix since March. If work schedules are to be strictly followed, it should already be on its way to prepare for its next season.
However, it looks like plans for its renewal is temporarily on hold as Charlie Cox, who plays Daredevil, and the rest of those involved on the show are doing a different project for Marvel TV. The studio is currently putting together a new show called "The Defenders," which would eat time from "Daredevil" Season 3's production.
"The Defenders" is not the only TV show Marvel TV is planning to bring to viewers next year as it has a long list of upcoming superhero series. Learn what these upcoming Marvel TV shows are below:
'The Defenders,' 'Luke Cage,' 'Iron Fist' And 'Jessica Jones'
In this new series, Daredevil will band together with other superheroes like Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and the Iron Fist. Back in April, Cox confirmed via Independent that "The Defenders" will begin filming in late 2016 for a 2017 outing, thus working on "Daredevil" would be impossible. "The Defender's" release could potentially takeover "Daredevil's" release calendar, which usually falls around March.
"Luke Cage" is going to be ready for streaming September 30 on Netflix with Mike Coulter in the lead, per Comic Book. The show is about a man who develops special powers after an experiment turns out wrong. Luke Cage uses this power to deal with criminals in Harlem. Also in the series are Alfre Woodard, Simone Missick and Mahershala Ali.
"Iron Fist" is expected to debut in 2017, but Netflix has not yet given a confirmed date yet. The series will be headlined by Finn Jones as Danny Rand, who is a master at Kung Fu. He also has mystical powers.
Apart from "Daredevil," "Jessica Jones" is the one other series that had a previous release, so it's already familiar to Netflix viewers. Word is that this show will be filmed at the same time as "The Defenders." The series stars Krysten Ritter, as the private investigator with superhuman powers. The second season is expected to premiere in late 2017, per Den of Geek.
'The Punisher,' 'Legion' And 'Hellfire'
"The Punisher" was introduced in the most recent season of "Daredevil" and it's expected that the standalone series would also debut in 2017. The show is about Frank Castle, a tortured soul who turns his anger and aggression towards criminals. It will star Jon Bernthal.
"Legion" is not part of the "Daredevil" and "The Defenders" universe and it won't be airing on Netflix. It is a show starring Dan Stevens, who plays the mutant son of Prof. Xavier from the "X-men." "Legion" is coming to Fox in 2017, per a previous Parent Herald report.
"Hellfire" is also coming to Fox next year, but no casting announcements and production details have been released so far. "Hellfire" is about the villains of the movie "X-Men: First Class." Keep following Parent Herald for the news and updates about these shows.
