Microsoft has created a special edition Xbox One console that is designed with a "Game of Thrones" TV theme. However, the custom-made console is a rare acquisition as it is only available in limited quantities. It's also only available in France via a contest online.
Xbox France tweeted right before the worldwide finale of "Game of Thrones" Season 6 that it is launching its contest to celebrate the TV show's good run. The special edition console and Blu-ray box sets of "Game of Thrones" will be given away as the prizes. Xbox France asked participants to tweet #XboxLovesGoT for a chance to win the custom console, however not everyone in the internet loved Xbox One's design.
Gizmodo reports that the "Game of Thrones" themed Xbox One is hideously designed in brown iron cast and might look "thirty kinds of gawdy" if displayed in the living room. Slate reports that it has a crown sticking out of the unit, which might not even fit within an entertainment display. The Verge is also not impressed and described the "Game of Thrones" Xbox One as a lot like a "terrible cake." But there are others with opposing views about the console. They think that the contest is actually a good marketing ploy.
Forbes cites that the console is "beautiful" albeit very hard to get. The news outlet also projects that Microsoft will be coming out with more of these custom-designed consoles in the future. IGN describes the unit as "amazing" especially since it matches with a custom-made iron cast Xbox One controller. Uproxx thinks this "Game of Thrones" Xbox One is really cool. Too bad only three people can own it.
What do you think of the console, gamers? Are you loving or hating the "Game of Thrones" Xbox One design?
