"We work in the dark, to serve the light. We are Assassins." - Michael Fassbender, "Assassin's Creed"
The hauntingly unforgettable Callum Lynch/Aguilar line (played by Michael Fassbender) in the "Assassin's Creed" movie leaves a lot to imagination regarding what to expect when the popular game franchise goes live later this year. With an ensemble cast and noted director Justin Kurzel behind the movie, still Ubisoft has been recently plagued with money-making rumors for the game-to-movie release, says Screen Rant.
Ubisoft's Euro division head Alain Corre has squashed the financial gain speculation in a recent interview. He also said that the film adaptation of the "Assassin's Creed" franchise is more of a marketing strategy, owing to the brand's good image.
Corre added that doing the movie adaptation for "Assassin's Creed" was to bring the franchise to reach more people, who would be interested in upcoming "Assassin's Creed" games.
How "Assassin's Creed" did in the past
Well, the "Assassin's Creed" game series had its fair share of downsides in the past. However, critics view the movie version as a sign of a good re-birth for the series to be more appealing to its fans.
In a YouTube trailer post, "Assassin's Creed" movie director Justin Kurzel just wants the adaptation to be a truly unbelievable ride.
On the other hand, Richard Farrese, the "Assassin's Creed" main writer, said that while Assassins are trying to do good, it is the method on how they achieve these goals that make them look bad. He also said that the Templars are also the same; both are ruthless and fanatical with their causes.
Farresse further pointed out that the Assassins' existence are defined by their lifetime commitment to the "Assassin's Creed", and thus follows through with the sacrifices that come as part of being one.
Loved the trailer and fanfare so far? The "Assassin's Creed" movie will be coming to cinemas on December 21 this year.
