When "Homeland" returns for its sixth season, the show will have undergone a time jump. As such, one of its characters is being recast to fit into the upcoming storyline. The change will affect Claire Danes' character, Carrie, in many ways.
'Homeland' Season 6 Recast
TV Line reports that Carrie's daughter, Franny, will have aged to 4-years-old in "Homeland" Season 6 and that her character has a major part in this season's story. Casting is already being sought for the little girl who will play Franny. It looks like Carrie will be stopping terrorist threats within the United States, while balancing motherhood this time around.
Cinema Blend notes that this will be the first time the show is going to use Franny for a big part in "Homeland" Season 6's story, but it's still unclear where the direction will go. It has been announced that "Homeland" Season 6 will find Carrie living New York, which means her work in the CIA will be based locally and no longer overseas.
In the past seasons, when Carrie was stationed in the Middle East, Franny was cared for by her sister and only appeared in one or two episodes for a few minutes. But now that she's literally in the homeland, the shift is definitely a new environment and a new dynamic for Carrie.
'Homeland' Season 6 Peter Quinn Returns
Meanwhile, despite experiencing the worst last season, where his life almost ended, Peter Quinn (Rupert Friend) is still going to become part of the show in Season 6, according to the "Homeland" producers. However, producer Alex Gansa teased via Entertainment Weekly that Quinn is going to be different this season and it might surprise the viewers. "Peter Quinn's character is gonna be dramatized this year," he said.
"Homeland" Season 6 will begin filming this fall. The show is expected to premiere Season 6 in 2017 on Showtime.
