Katy Perry New Song: Single 'Rise' Benefits From Feud; Gets Remixed By Calvin Harris?

Katy Perry is laughing all the way to the bank as her new single "Rise" is benefitting from all the press generated from the current Taylor Swift - Calvin Harris drama on social media. The electropop-influenced single is Katy Perry's contribution to NBC's network coverage of the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

After spending the first few hours of the almost simultaneous release behind "Make Me" by Britney Spears, "Rise" replaced the Pop Princess at the top of the US iTunes singles chart, the Headline Planet reported. Part of the momentum gain of "Rise" can be attributed to a whole segment by Katy Perry dedicated to the song in the TODAY Show on NBC. Another high-profile new song, "Girls Talk Boys" by the Australian band 5 Seconds of Summer, also debuted behind the two pop juggernauts. "Can't Stop the Feeling" by Justin Timberlake and "This Is What You Came For" by Calvin Harris and Rihanna.

The "I Kissed A Girl" singer capitalized on being involved in the current social media firestorm, the Toronto Sun reported. The new Katy Perry single was released a day after Calvin Harris mentioned her name in one of his tweets following his rant against former flame Taylor Swift.

Swift earlier confirmed reports that she used a pen name in writing some parts of "This Is What You Came For." This caused the Scottish DJ to go on the much-publicized tirade on Twitter for Swift's action made him "look bad" in the public eye.

"I know you're off tour and you need someone new to try and bury like Katy ETC but I'm not that guy, sorry," Harris said, alluding to the widely-speculated rift between Swift and Perry. Perry seemingly responded a few hours after with a GIF of a shrugging Hillary Clinton.

Can this new cordial relationship mean that "Rise" will be remixed by Calvin Harris soon? Time will tell.
