The ball is rolling for "Fast and Furious 8." According to reports, the cast and crew of the upcoming street-action film have already started filming along with the new characters who will be joining the new adventures. But for those wishing to see Helen Mirren on the wheel, you will be disappointed.
Helen Mirren Won't Be Driving In 'Fast And Furious 8'
There is no doubt that the "The Queen" star is good in her craft, no matter what genre she takes on. Helen Mirren has already starred in several action films including "Red" and its sequel "Red 2," "Shadowboxer" and "National Treasure: Book of Secrets." This time the "Woman in Gold" star is joining Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) and the gang in "Fast and Furious 8."
Helen Mirren told Yahoo earlier that it's her "great ambition" to join "Fast and Furious" and went on that she wanted to be a "mad driver." Unfortunately, even though Mirren wished to show off her driving skills, she won't be driving in "Fast and Furious 8."
In a recent interview, Helen Mirren admitted that there's no scene in "Fast and Furious 8," where she will be behind the wheels. In fact, she feels that she jokingly said that she's better with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson when it comes to driving a gear shift car.
"I wanted to be driving, but unfortunately, I'm not," Helen Mirren told Entertainment Weekly. "I'm probably one of the few people on the set who know how to drive a gear shift car. I doubt the Rock [Dwayne Johnson] knows. But I do. I know how to double-declutch."
